Etsy 3D Print Profit Calculator
Estimate only. Etsy rounds and taxes fees at transaction level; reconcile against your Payment account.
Selling a 3D print for $30 does not mean you keep $30. Etsy may charge a listing fee, transaction fee, Etsy Payments processing fee, and—for attributed orders—an Offsite Ads fee. Your real profit also depends on material, failed prints, labor, machine wear, packaging, and the shipping label.
Etsy fees included in this calculator
1. Listing fee: $0.20
Etsy charges $0.20 to create or renew a listing. The fee applies even when a listing does not sell, and a listing normally expires after four months. Multi-quantity sales can create additional $0.20 renewal charges. The calculator therefore asks for billable listing units instead of assuming every order creates exactly one fee.

2. Transaction fee: 6.5%
Etsy's US seller guidance lists a 6.5% transaction fee on the total order amount in the designated listing currency. The fee applies to shipping and gift wrapping charged to the buyer and is separate from payment processing.
Charging shipping separately does not avoid the transaction fee. If the item price is $30 and the buyer pays $5 shipping, the simplified transaction-fee base is $35.

3. US Etsy Payments: 3% + $0.25
For a seller whose bank account is in the United States, Etsy Payments currently costs 3% of the gross order amount plus $0.25 per order. Etsy states that the processing base includes shipping and applicable tax. This charge is separate from the 6.5% transaction fee, and payment-processing rates depend on the seller's bank-account location.

4. Offsite Ads: 15% or 12%
An Offsite Ads charge applies only when Etsy attributes the order to an offsite advertisement. Etsy says attribution can occur when a buyer clicks an Offsite Ad and purchases from the shop within 30 days.
- Shops that have always made less than $10,000 in a consecutive 365-day period pay 15% on attributed orders and may opt out.
- After a shop reaches at least $10,000 in a consecutive 365-day period, the rate is 12% and participation becomes required for the lifetime of the shop.
- The Offsite Ads charge is capped at $100 per attributed order.

US Etsy fee and profit formula
For a planning estimate, define:
- B = item price + shipping charged + gift wrap + paid personalization
- T = applicable sales tax in the payment-processing base
- N = billable $0.20 listing or renewal units
- A = Offsite Ads rate: 0, 0.12, or 0.15
transaction = 6.5% × B
payment processing = 3% × (B + T) + $0.25
Offsite Ads = lower of (A × B) or $100
Production cost should include material, energy, machine allowance, maintenance, failed-print risk, and hands-on labor. Fulfillment includes packaging and shipping-label cost even when the buyer pays a separate shipping charge.
Worked example: a $30 3D print
- Item price: $30.00
- Shipping charged: $5.00
- One listing unit: $0.20
- Production and packaging cost: $8.50
- Shipping label / fulfillment: $5.00
- Sales tax excluded from this simplified example
The fee base is $35. Without an Offsite Ads charge:
transaction: $35 × 6.5% = $2.28
payment processing: $35 × 3% + $0.25 = $1.30
total Etsy fees: about $3.78
estimated profit: $35 − $3.78 − $8.50 − $5 = $17.72
A 15% attributed Offsite Ad adds $5.25, reducing estimated profit to $12.47. A 12% attributed ad adds $4.20, reducing it to $13.52. A product can look comfortable under normal fees and become underpriced in an ad-attributed order.
Can you sell 3D-printed products on Etsy in 2026?
Etsy's current Creativity Standards allow physical items a seller produces in a personal shop or home with computerized tools such as a 3D printer, CNC, laser printer, or Cricut. The policy says those items must be produced from the seller's original design and requires original photo or video content of the final product for “made by a seller” listings.
If a seller creates the original design and uses a third-party production partner, Etsy requires the partner to be disclosed. Do not assume that permission or a commercial license to print another creator's STL automatically satisfies Etsy's original-design requirement; review the policy and your rights before listing.

Important limitations
This estimate does not automatically include Etsy Ads cost-per-click charges, shipping-label adjustments, refunds, chargebacks, subscriptions, income tax, or a possible shop setup fee. Etsy also lists a 2.5% currency-conversion fee when conversion between listing and payment-account currencies is required.
Fee rounding and tax treatment vary by transaction. Use this calculator to plan, then reconcile estimates against the detailed entries in your Payment account.
