eBay Store Subscription Calculator
US planning model for standard fixed-price selling. Vehicle, real estate, special categories, account-specific fee terms, Enterprise add-on bundles, and final tax treatment are not modeled.
An eBay Store subscription is not automatically cheaper just because it includes more zero insertion fee listings. The monthly fee has to be earned back through listing-fee savings, lower final value fee rates in supported Store categories, and enough completed orders to make the discount matter.
Use this calculator for one specific decision: which US eBay Store plan has the lowest modeled monthly selling cost at my listing and order volume? It is a monthly plan comparison, not a replacement for the order-level eBay fee calculator.
How to use the calculator
- Choose monthly renewal or yearly renewal monthly-equivalent pricing.
- Enter monthly fixed-price listing events: new listings, relists, and Good 'Til Cancelled renewals that consume allocation.
- Leave select-category allocation enabled only when the listing category qualifies, such as Crafts in eBay's current US select fixed-price list.
- Enter completed orders and the average final value fee base per order, including shipping and marketplace-collected tax when eBay includes them.
- Compare the recommended plan with the Basic Store break-even rows before changing a subscription.
The tool runs in your browser. MakerGauge does not collect listing counts, revenue, category, or seller performance data.
The core monthly model
The default model uses the common US no-Store and Starter rate of 13.6% up to $7,500 per item, then 2.35% above, and the common Basic-or-higher Store rate of 12.7% up to $2,500 per item, then 2.35% above, for supported standard categories such as Crafts. The interactive model focuses on ordinary small-order fee bases below those thresholds; use the full eBay fee and profit calculator when category tiers or high-ticket items matter.
What each eBay Store plan changes
| Plan | Yearly renewal monthly cost | Monthly renewal cost | Fixed-price allocation used here | Insertion fee after allocation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No Store | $0 | $0 | 250 | $0.35 |
| Starter | $4.95 | $7.95 | 250 | $0.30 |
| Basic | $21.95 | $27.95 | 1,000 all categories + 10,000 select categories | $0.25 |
| Premium | $59.95 | $74.95 | 10,000 all categories + 50,000 select categories | $0.10 |
| Anchor | $299.95 | $349.95 | 25,000 all categories + 75,000 select categories | $0.05 |
| Enterprise | $2,999.95 | Not currently available | 100,000 all categories + 100,000 select categories | $0.05 |
eBay's Store page says Good 'Til Cancelled fixed-price listings renew automatically once per calendar month and count toward monthly zero insertion allocation. That is why the calculator asks for listing events instead of only new SKUs.
Worked example: 1,600 listings and 120 orders
Suppose a seller has 1,600 monthly fixed-price listing renewals, sells 120 orders, and averages a $42 final value fee base. With yearly renewal pricing and a qualifying select category, the no-Store model pays $472.50 in insertion fees and about $685.44 in final value fees, for a modeled monthly cost of $1,157.94.
A Basic Store has enough select-category allocation to bring modeled insertion fees to zero. The subscription costs $21.95 per month on yearly renewal, and the lower 12.7% final value rate produces about $640.08 in final value fees. Total modeled monthly cost is $662.03, or $495.91 less than the no-Store scenario before optional upgrades or account-specific exceptions.
Decision table
| Seller situation | Likely next test | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Under 250 listing events and low order volume | No Store or Starter | The subscription has little insertion-fee savings to recover. |
| Many fixed-price listings in Crafts or another select category | Basic Store | Allocation and final value fee savings can offset the monthly fee quickly. |
| More than 10,000 ordinary fixed-price listing events | Premium Store | Premium's larger allocation and lower overage fee may beat Basic. |
| Large catalog with tens of thousands of monthly listing renewals | Anchor or Enterprise | The high subscription only works when listing-fee savings are very large. |
| Below Standard or service-metric surcharge appears in Seller Hub | Fix account health before upgrading | A surcharge can overwhelm normal plan savings and may change after July 1, 2026 rules. |
What eBay's official pages say
eBay's US Store selling-fees page lists the current Store subscription fees, insertion allocations, insertion fees after allocation, Store final value fee schedules, additional final value fees, international fees, and other terms. Its zero insertion fee listings page explains monthly allocations, select-category limits, Good 'Til Cancelled renewals, duplicate listings, and excluded categories.
For sellers without a Store, eBay's US selling-fees page lists the no-Store insertion fee, final value fee base, per-order fee, shipping-base exceptions, and category exceptions. Confirm the category table for the actual listing rather than assuming every product uses Crafts or most-categories rates.
What this calculator does not model
- Vehicles, real estate, classified ads, heavy equipment, or other special category schedules.
- High-ticket marginal tiers where the average order crosses the final value fee threshold.
- Enterprise add-on bundles, negotiated account rates, promotional listing allocations, or selling limits.
- Optional listing upgrades beyond the single editable monthly spend field.
- International fees, currency conversion, Promoted Listings, refunds, and order-level production costs.
After choosing a plan, use the eBay fee calculator for order-level category, international, tax, advertising, and maker cost assumptions. If the subscription decision is part of a channel choice, compare the same product in the Etsy versus eBay fee calculator. For advertising, keep Store math separate from the Promoted Listings General break-even calculator.
FAQ
Does a Basic Store always beat no Store?
No. A Basic Store can win when listing-fee savings or final value fee savings exceed the subscription fee. If the seller has few listings, few orders, or a category that does not use the modeled Store rate, no Store or Starter can be cheaper.
Should I count active listings or new listings?
Count monthly listing events that consume allocation. Good 'Til Cancelled fixed-price listings can renew each calendar month, so an existing catalog can still use allocation even without many brand-new listings.
Why is buyer tax included in the average fee base?
eBay's US selling fee page says the final value fee base includes the total amount of the sale, including item price, handling, buyer-paid shipping, sales tax, and other applicable fees, subject to shipping exceptions. Marketplace-collected tax is not seller revenue, but it can still affect percentage fees.
Can I use this for eBay UK Shop subscriptions?
No. This page models US eBay Store subscriptions only because US plan prices, allocation counts, insertion fees, and final value schedules differ from UK Shop terms. Use UK seller statements and current UK fee pages for a UK Shop decision.
